Introducting the Dell Adamo XPS, the World's Thinnest Laptop

Dell has been very tight-lipped about its new laptop, the Adamo XPS. But Dell has officially released information about the details of this new computer as well as pricing. It has not announce when it is going to be accepting orders, except to say, orders will
most likely be taken closer toward the holidays. The price tag for this very thin laptop begins at $1,799.

At first glance this laptop is incredibly thin. It measures just under 10 millimeters thick and has a 13 to inch display. Compared to its competitor to 11 inch Sony Vaio X, the Adamo is a little heavier, weighing in at 3.2 pounds. This puts the Adamo twice the weight of the Sony Vaio X.

The Dell Adamo has a unique way of opening the lid. There is a heat sensitive strip located on the front edge center of the lid. When a finger is swept along this strip, the lid unlocks and tilts back in a fashion that places the keyboard at a 20-degree angle. This is an unconventional way of the laptop opening, however if this provides a more ergonomic design making it easier on your hands when typing.

This newly innovative laptop has an integrated flash drive. Many of the system components are actually located behind the screen. It has two USB ports as well as at the headphone jack, our connection, and mini display port. It's also sporting a screen size of 13.4 inches with a 1336x 768 resolution. The lid on the Adamo is slightly larger than the keyboard. So when the lid is close the keyboard can fit inside the lid.

The Adamo has a 1.4 GHz Intel ULV processor and a 128 GB solid - state drive. Dell also suggests that the batteries life is upwards of 2.5 hours and about 5 hours with an optional extended battery (which hasn't been revealed yet).

This unique design is completely different than any of the competitor's laptops. Also with a high purchase price is labeled as a luxury laptop, much like Sony Vaio X and HP Envy 13th. This positions the Adamo out of the mainstream systems. It is mainly intended for the enthusiast. No matter what your inclination is on laptops, this is by far one of the most unique designs produced by Dell.

So look for this laptop to be offered for the holidays. It is highly anticipated in a very loaded with features. However, the $1800 price tag may be a turnoff for most consumers.
