A Guide to Using Picasa Face Recognition

Picasa is a picture labeling, sorting, storing and retrieval program,
which can find all pictures with one person included anywhere in the
picture, when using the included facial recognition software. Picasa
is a great program if you want to store your pictures in such a way
that you can
retrieve all of the pictures in your gallery, or even on-line, that
contain the same person as the one you have selected to search for.
You can only select the one person that you want all pictures
containing them returned, multiple selections are not yet available,
and the pictures do not need to be tagged to be selected.

Using Picasa face recognition, you can upload all pictures in your
picture gallery, folders or both, which have the person's face that
you selected to search for in them, either alone or in a group of
people. if you tag one picture of a group of people for one person in
it, whenever you retrieve that picture's name, all pictures of groups
that have that person in it will be included, not just that picture
alone.

of your pictures in one picture folder, like Windows Picture Gallery.
You can have your pictures separated into different groups and
sub-groups, and any pictures in all of them containing the person that
you have chosen to search for will be included in the returns. You can
add pictures one at a time, or in bulk, as long as one person is in
all of them.

When using face recognition for your pictures with Picasa, you do not
have to have name tags included in your groupings or file folders, as
the facial recognition software picks through all of the pictures in
your library that have that person in them, alone or as part of a
group, in the foreground or background, or off to the side, in any
picture file. As long as the people's faces are in relatively good
focus, they will be included in the returns.

Another feature of Picasa's face recognition is that it will group
together a bunch of people who look extremely similar to the person in
the picture that you are using to find more pictures with. These
pictures with similar looking people will be returned in a group. If
you want, you
can un-group the pictures of similar looking people, and have them as
stand-alone pictures. You can also add a name to the picture you are
using to find other pictures of a person, so that in the future you
can simply type in the name, and all pictures with that person in them
well be returned.
