hose crazy engineers in Japan have done it again. They have taken a classic concept and made it 10 times better. An unknown Japanese company premiered the G-Bound RC car recently at the annual Tokyo toy show. At first glimpse, the remote control car seems to be like any other RC
currently on the market. However, the car soon
impresses all by driving over water. You read that right. The G-Bound RC is the first fully functional remote control car that can drive over water.
You might be asking yourself how this is even possible. Surprisingly, the technology used to make it happen is quite basic. All the company had to do was create a way to make the chassis of the vehicle waterproof. This needed to be done to prevent any water from getting into the vehicle, thus stalling operation and causing the RC to sink. Another aspect of the vehicle that helps it drive over water happens to be it's inflatable tires. The tires are extra inflated, causing the RC to move more smoothly over water surfaces.
There are a couple of pieces of bad news in regards to the G-Bound RC. Japanese engineers currently have only been able to get the RC to drive over 33 feet of water. If you wish to go any further, you will have to watch your RC sink to the bottom of the water and go swimming for it. We all know this is something we do not want to do, so we are kind of regulated to where we can actually bring the remote control car. However, what other car will let you drive over any type of water? None.
The other big negative is that this remote control car is only going to be released into the Japanese market for the time being. This is because the company would like to try out the car in their home market first. Most companies do this because they want to work out any kinks and issues that might be discovered over time. Once these issues are taken care of and further enhancements are made, the company will look towards marketing the product in other markets across the world.
